Snowboarding - Mount Lyford, Canterbury. What a great place, friendly ski field suitable for learning as well as more advanced skiiers. Lyford village is a good example of how a developer can do good things, only log cabins here, in sympathy with the surroundings. Lyford Lodge is a superb facility offering bunk house and private rooms, at the foot of the mountains on the inland road to Kaikoura.
Mount Herbert, Banks Peninsula - New Zealand. Looking North over to Lyttleton Harbour on a crisp Autumn day with typically bright blue skies. Easily achieved summit and a nice relatively long linear trip from Orton Bradley Park and finishing at Diamond Harbour - a perfect walk if you are able to use 2 cars or are happy to hitch.
Sumner, Christchurch - New Zealand
Sumner, Christchurch - New Zealand. Presently home to us, surfing, sandy beach, cafes, a superb indian restraunts. A great back packers and some excellent up market accommodation too, why stay in the city when all this is just round the corner. So many tourists never even venture this far, only a bus ride away and fantastic on a sunny day.

Cromwell, Otago - New Zealand. Living in Christchurch I have seen some examples of how New Zealand is sadly losing its heritage to the hands of developers. It was refreshing to see that in some way this was being 'preserved' in Cromwell, if indeed it was actaully being re-created. Clearly there are plans to further develop this historic styled street, more please!
