No power at the pub
Cumbria continues to be battered by the worst storms for 200 years. We are ok, the pub in Calthwaite is now by candle light as they have lost their electric cables to a falling tree. We have been for a walk to Askham and discovered wide spread tree and water damage. We have got off quite lightly. Carlisle is in a real mess.

BBC NEWS | UK | Community spirit shines through
Whilst we coped with no power and being cut off by high waters in nearby river plus a power cut all day others were in a more perilous situation nearby in Carlisle. We have heard of people too scared to leave their homes for fear that they will be looted, apparently B&Q has been broken in to.
